Trump administration to suspend all guest worker visas to the US, major impact on H-1B Visas.

The Trump Administration in the United states is planning to sign an executive order which is expected in this month, to ban all the temporary foreign worker visas majorly including the H-1B Visas and the H-2B, seasonal workers visas to the US.

The ban is to be executed in order to save jobs for the Americans who have already lost their jobs. Over 33 million Americans lost their job last month due to the coronavirus pandemic. The economy in the US has been brought to the stand still and Americans are reportedly losing jobs as the country has also recorded the highest unemployment ratio.

There are over 500,000 H-1B holders in the US, a majority of them from India. The Trump administration is keen to put a temporary ban on the issuance of new guest worker visas, after receiving a request from the group of Republican Senators asking Trump administration to ban all the foreign workers visa to protect the jobs for American citizens.

The World Bank and the IMF had also projected the negative growth rate for the country, with an economy to grow at a negative 15 to 20 percent in the second quarter. The unemployment rate for the month of April rose to 14.7 percent which was the largest over a month increase.

The Trump administration has already banned several visa categories in the last months and has also extended the restrictions on the border movement which may continue for a few months according to the experts.

The administration expects to extend the ban on certain visa categories to provide employment opportunities for several Americans who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic resulting in economic slow-down. They also advise that the ban should continue until the unemployment rate in the country stabilises as a only measure right now to fight with the crisis.

Though there is no official confirmation on the order to have passed, but the administration would come up with more such measures to ensure the foreign workers are cut down temporarily to create job opportunities for American Citizens.
